Brimstock Cottage
At Near Sawrey, only a mile away, is Hill Top House where Beatrix Potter lived. Hill Top House is laid out as if she had just stepped out for a walk. It is filled with momentoes and references to her books with glorious gardens. The house was purchased by Beatrix Potter in 1905 after her first success with "Peter Rabbit" and the stunning scenery of Claiffe Heights and Moss Eccles Tarn inspired her to write her subsequent stories of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck.
There are lovely walks and mountain bike tracks straight from the door of the Cottage across the beautiful Claiffe Heights and down along the edge of Windermere - along to Wray Castle or over Latterbrow to Hawkshead.
Brimstock Cottage is close to two dog friendly pubs, The Cuckoo Brow Inn and The Tower Bank Arms, there is always time to enjoy good food, local ale and conversation.
- The Cuckoo Brow Inn in Far Sawrey is a 300 year old renovated coaching inn and is one of the Telegraph's top 10 pubs in the Lake District and a finalist in the Cumbria Tourism Awards Tourist Pub of the Year and features in Dog Friendly Pub Walks.
- The Tower Bank Arms in Near Sawrey is a traditional 17th Century Lakeland Inn and is definitely a place to stop for good food, good beer and good company.
Nearby is Claiffe Station built in the 1790s, and recently renovated, offers views down Lake Windermere and is now home to a lovely cafe. Walk or cycle the lakeside path to Wray Castle or pop over on the Windermere Ferry to Bowness with its thriving tourist centre, including lake cruises and watersports.A short distance away past the fishing haven of Esthwaite water is Hawkeshead with its many pubs and shops full of the most delicious chutneys and jams and all things scrumptious.
2 Bedroom - Dog Friendly - Character Cottage
Bedrooms
The Cottage has 2 beautiful bedrooms - one king size and one double both look out over the stunning views of Lake Windermere and the valley. The bedrooms are decorated in neutral shades and furnished with solid wood country furniture.
Lounge
All the character you could wish for with an 18th century flagstone floor, wooden beams and a cosy woodburner. All combined with the best of luxury and technology with large flat screen TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Blu-ray player, Netflix and Denon sound system. Even an "Alexa" for your enjoyment.
Kitchen / Diner
We have just put in a brand new kitchen with lovely traditional cabinets and a wooden surface and belfast sink. The kitchen has a wooden floor and contains all the mod cons, including a dishwasher and a washer-drier. The bright modern kitchen and dining area has windows to three sides to enjoy the views across the Valley and Lake Windermere.
Dogs are part
of the Family
at Brimstock Cottage
Many places say they are dog-friendly but we really love dogs! We have 4 of our own and everything here is perfect for them - from lying in front of the fire after walking the hills - to the exciting garden to explore. The garden is fully enclosed to keep your pets safe. You can take as many dogs as you would like and we do not charge extra.
